Discover Sailing Day
A Discover Sailing Day is a great initiative for all clubs to grow participation and membership. Designed to both attract participants to the club on the day, and to send a strong message to the local community throughout the year that clubs are open and ready to welcome new participants!
Discover Sailing Day is FREE for all affiliated sailing clubs and intended to be FREE for participants. All clubs can run a Discover Sailing Day. You do not need to be an accredited Discover Sailing Centre, although that may add some advantages in using qualified instructors and provided accredited learn to sail programs for your participants to register in to continue and grow their new found love for sailing.
To continue in our commitment to increasing participation in clubs, Australian Sailing have created a step-by-step guide to assist with the planning and delivery of your Discover Sailing Day. Along with marketing templates and social media tiles to assist with the promotion of your event. Australian Sailing’s Club Support team are here to support clubs in the planning and executing their own ‘Discover Sailing Day’ event opening their club to the local community to try sailing.

Discover Sailing Day - Marketing Resources:
- Editable PPT poster template: clubs can enter their details, image and club logo and print out posters for display in and around their club / community.
Follow steps below to create your own poster:
- Using the Powerpoint template click the add picture icon and upload your chosen image
- Right click your image and select 'Send to Back'
- Be sure to follow the same steps to upload your club logo and give details of your club name, event time & date and contact
- 'Save as' your poster to your files
- Social media post template - clubs can insert in their own discover sailing day image to post on their social media channels to promote their event. Using the Powerpoint template insert an image by following the steps above then 'Save as' a JPEG to your files which you can then post on your clubs social media channels; be sure to give details of your event time and date in your accompanying copy and use hashtag #DiscoverSailing and #WelcomeToOurPlayground
- Discover Sailing promotional videos: The Discover Sailing 'Have a Go' promotional videos are available for clubs to download and use via their social channels, websites and in-venue screens to promote the various sailing programs. To view and download the full suite Discover Sailing program promotional videos, visit the Discover Sailing Marketing page and scroll down to the promotional videos section. The below generic 'Discover Sailing' video is a good one to showcase when promoting your Discover Sailing event:
- Discover Sailing Teardrop banners: teardrop banners provide great outdoor branding and colour at discover sailing events, this artwork can be downloaded and printed at your local officeworks or printer.
