The Australian Sailing myLearning portal has a catalogue of free and useful online courses created by Australian Sailing and Sport Integrity Australia that could benefit clubs, members, volunteers, administrators and instructors.

How to access the e-learning platform once landed on the login page:

  • Existing Users: enter your email address and password. If you don't remember your password click on 'Forgot your password?' to receive a password reset email (check your junk folder too).
  • New Users: click on 'Register' and type your information in the sign up fields. Your login credentials will be sent to you via email. Use them to access online courses in the future.

INSTRUCTOR GENERAL PRINCIPLES



This course is based upon the Australian Sports Commission’s Coaching General Principles and will focus on developing the fundamental skills of instructing. It is a prerequisite for attending the face-to-face training for an Australian Sailing Instructor course and should help participants understand what the Australian Sailing Instructor qualification is all about and what skills are required to be a good instructor, no matter what program you are interested in – Dinghy, Keelboat Powerboat or Windsurfing. The course should take approximately 2 hours and, as part of the course, you will end up creating a practical and theory session plan for you to take to your face-to-face course.

SAILING COACH GENERAL PRINCIPLES



The Sailing Coach program has developed, based on the learnings and success of the Australian Sailing Team over the years. The course content has been contributed by members of the Australian Sailing Team, including Sarah Ogilvie - a former Olympian, World Champion and Sailing Coach. The course will build upon your existing skills, knowledge and experience gained from racing yourself or through formal training as a Dinghy Instructor. The course caters for those working with participants (athletes) who have learnt basic skills and want to develop their skills further so that they can enjoy competing in Club, State and National level events. This online learning module (and any additional assessment tasks) must be completed prior to the face-to-face component of the course. Please allow approximately six hours.

TACKERS ONLINE INDUCTION



The aim of this course is to outline the difference between Tackers and other learn to sail programs and to provide you, as the Tackers instructor, with the tools and knowledge you need to be an excellent Tackers Instructor. It will teach you the reasoning behind modified sport for children and how this is linked to the method of delivery for Tackers. This course assumes that you are already a qualified instructor. If not, it is recommended that you undertake the Instructor General Principles course also available in the myLearning portal.

SAFETY CODE INDUCTION



The aim of this course is to outline the different levels of responsibility for safety in sailing, familiarise you with the Australian Sailing (AS) Safety Framework and enable you to identify your roles and responsibilities within the framework. This module will guide you through the various responsibilities sailing organisations have for safety. This course should take approximately 30 mins to complete.

CHILD PROTECTION



The Play by the Rules - Child Protection course is an interactive online training course suitable for coaches, administrators, officials, players, parents and spectators. The course is short, user-friendly and feature the latest interactive technology, including case studies, practical scenarios and a quiz. The course may be done in part, or all at once and covers:

This Play by the Rules – Harassment & Discrimination course is short, user-friendly and feature the latest interactive technology, including case studies, practical scenarios and a quiz. The modules may be done in part, or all at once. The course provides information to help you understand what constitutes harassment and discrimination, rights and responsibilities and how to establish a welcoming and inclusive environment. A certificate valid for two years will be awarded upon course and quiz completion.

The Club Equipment Auditor (CEA) online course is a free safety service provided to help ensure safety standards are consistently met through equipment compliance. The CEA online course reviews: the Cat 3-7 auditing forms, all category specific updates to the Special Regulations, procedures to be utilised whist auditing and where to obtain specific auditing information from the Racing Rules of Sailing and Special Regulations.
