Amendments to the Special Regulations
Published Fri 30 May 2025
Australian Sailing has completed a review, comparing the domestic Special Regulations against the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations and have issued the first round of amendments.
A review has been undertaken to see if any of the requirements in Australian Sailing’s Special Regulations need to be brought in line with World Sailing’s Offshore Special Regulations. Australia is a very special place to sail and has quite unique waters and conditions to sail in, which is why we have own our set of Special Regulations to suit our own conditions.
However, every few years a review is done to compare our Special Regulations to the Offshore Special Regulations to ensure that we are in line with the rest of the world where possible. As such there have been 9 amendments that have been made. The premises of these amendments are mostly administrative and do not change the current requirements for boats.
The amendments are:
- Categories of Events
- Fuel Tanks
- Heavy Items
- Hull Construction Standards
- Keel Inspection
- Stability – Monohulls
- Stability and Flotation – Multihulls
- Training
- Watertight integrity of a boat
To view the amendments themselves, please go to the amendments button in the Special Regulations part of our Safety Hub.
