In 2023, we launched our Instructor, Coach and Official Development Strategy to deliver on one of the key strategic projects in our SAILING 2032 Strategic Plan. The Strategy has four focus areas:

• Focus Area 1: Put People First

• Focus Area 2: Accreditation is Accessible

• Focus Area 3: Connection, collaboration and inspiration

• Focus Area 4: Future focussed sailing

All our work in officiating is guided by the four Focus Areas, as we work towards our strategic goal of building “an Inspiring community of instructors, coaches and officials who together deliver and elevate sailing whilst learning and growing themselves, others and the sport.”

To this end, over the last 12 months we have delivered:

• A series of Officials Workshops which empowered officials to mentor and support others on their officiating journey

• A more accessible, user-friendly and content-rich Learning Centre

• Two new e-learning courses (Race Officer – Introduction and Race Officer – Scorer & Handicapper)

• Streamlined re-accreditation requirements for all officials 

• A clearer, simpler Officials Accreditation Policy
