Australian Sailing IRC Load Cell
Published Wed 17 Dec 2025
Australian Sailing has purchased a new 25 tonne load cell (CHR009) from NuWeigh Australia in Newcastle. This load cell has already weighed around 20 boats in Sydney.
The load cell and accompanying shackles are available for weighing boats for their rating certificates around the country.
Arrangements can be made with the rating office to transport the load cell to locations where needed. This will require the end user to agree to the terms of use policy before the dispatch of this unit.
The load cell meets AS 2193 Class A specification and is calibrated specifically to the range of 2 to 17 tonne. Australian Sailing will be maintaining and renewing the load cell calibration every year.
This has been a huge step in the improvement and repeatability of weighing boats for the IRC Rule.
