International Race Officials Seminars

Published Tue 17 Dec 2019

Several of World Sailing’s International Race Officials seminars have been planned and to some degree executed in this part of the world.

The first was an International Judge seminar run in Melbourne in early October 2019. The seminar was well attended with 18 people coming from all over Australia, and from New Zealand to take part. The seminar was run by Josje Hofland and Doug Elder.

The next is the International Measurer seminar also to be run in Melbourne in late January. This seminar will be delivered by Ajit Diaz and David Sprague and is geared to anyone wanting to volunteer in the areas of measurement and equipment control for classes and events. There are still a couple of spaces left for this one. Information about this seminar can be found at https://www.sailing.org.au/events/52183/.

We are also expecting an International Umpire seminar to be run in New Zealand in conjunction with their national match racing championships in October 2020. Information will become available at https://www.sailing.org/raceofficials/internationalumpire/seminars_clinics.php. Officials wanting to do this seminar might want to take advantage of Umpire courses in Australia first to make sure that they have every opportunity to be well prepared.
