New Officials Accreditation Policy and Officials Complaints Policy
Published Wed 28 May 2025
Australian Sailing has updated its policy framework for the accreditation and regulation of officials, with two new policies replacing five existing ones.
The new policies are:
- An Officials Accreditation Policy, which replaces the existing accreditation policies for each discipline, and
- An Officials Complaints Policy, which replaces the Officials Feedback Policy.
Rather than bringing about significant change to the officiating landscape by themselves, these policies are intended to largely reflect the existing policies’ structure and content.
However, the new policies are significantly shorter and clearer than the previous policies, and will allow future developments in the officiating space. One such development is the upgrades to the re-accreditation requirements for officials, which was also launched today. To read more about those changes, click here.
The new policies were drafted with advice and assistance from a dedicated working group composed of Ed Vincent (NJ, NRO), John Standley (IJ), and Nick Hutton (IRO). Australian Sailing is grateful to each of those officials for their contributions.
