Accreditation Requirements and Benefits

How to get involved?

Instructors and Coaches are critical to the growth of the sailing community, and you don’t need to be an expert to get involved.  The free Australian Sailing Learning Centre combined with our face-to-face training help you help others in sailing, and provide the resources you need to succeed in your role.

The first step is to do core learning, available online in the Learning Centre, accessible any time, entirely free and suitable for all levels. In just a few hours, you’ll learn essential skills for your role including safety, communication, and inclusion. Then you’ll be ready to join face-to-face training.

Benefits of Australian Sailing Accreditation

  • Eligibility to deliver Discover Sailing Programs and/or Participation Programs

  • Recognition from the sailing community and the general public that you have been trained to a high standard and are therefore qualified to deliver safe, consistent, quality experiences to participants

  • Flexibility to gain further accreditations

  • Access to standard course curriculum and other training resources

  • Public Liability Insurance for coaches when delivering club-sanctioned training, and for instructors when delivering accredited Discover Sailing Courses at an accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

  • Access to ongoing learning and development through conferences, webinars, newsletters and more 

  • Develop connections and networks with Clubs, Classes, sailing and sport communities 

  • Option to be visible through the Find an Instructor tool on the Australian Sailing website
