The Instructor program focuses on teaching the potential Instructor how to deliver safe, fun and inclusive environments for participants whilst teaching the fundamentals of sailing and powerboating.

Accredited Instructors deliver Australian Sailing Discover Sailing programs and courses at Discover Sailing Centres.

Instructor Pathway

Assistant Instructor
Assistant Instructors work with Instructors to deliver the Dinghy and Windsurfing programs and must always be under the guidance of an Instructor.

Instructor
Instructors deliver high quality sailing experiences and teach new skills following the Discover Sailing programs. They complete a program-specific Instructor course and can later attend additional endorsement courses.

Senior Instructor
Senior Instructors deliver training for Instructors and Assistant Instructors, provide feedback, and assess candidates consistently and fairly. Senior Instructors are appointed by Australian Sailing. If you’re interested in becoming a Senior Instructor, contact your local Club Support Officer.
